Elabo to Equip 36 Work Stations at E.ON

32 employees and 4 trainees are taking care of one of the E.ON nuclear power plants. They check and document everything in their maintenance shop, from individual safety-related modules to the "usual industrial engineering". Currently, Elabo is completely re-equipping the facility, from the work station power supply to wall units.

E.ON is one of the world‘s largest suppliers of electricity and gas, from both so-called regenerative energy sources and traditional energy sources such as nuclear power and coal. For E.ON, nuclear energy in Europe, with 45%, represents a significant share of its supply deliveries. Since the plant's capacity is utilized at over 90 percent, the shop is faced with big challenges: on the one hand, it must always be able to guarantee operational safety, but on the other, this has to be done without any large-scale shut-downs.

Elabo offered the company a complete solution that, even in its smallest details, aligns itself with the challenging tasks and their expansion. "Due to the increased requirements in the area of test documentation, we are spending more and more time in front of a computer. The former work stations were no longer suitable in light of these changes. "We therefore initiated a new concept that integrates the office, test stations, and the training shop," explained shop foreman, Heinz Samolik.

Aside from its broad range of products, regional sales manager, Bernd Missling, was also able to impress with Elabo's features during his talks with the company: „Having the storage space provided directly at the work station by shutter cabinets installed above the tabletop or the table cable troughs used for the wiring simply reflected the new departmental philosophy." E.ON employees were particularly impressed by the layout of the four trainee stations.





In coordination with the trade association Elabo has already implemented the new recommendation for the design of trainee stations: safety notices are displayed at the front panels of the power supply, the measurement and testing equipment and other functional front panels such as the JR45 data sockets. This way, trainees can operate the high-performance industrial level devices of the 6HE system, but can still follow the symbols that are traditionally used in training. For example, the five safety rules were mounted on a blank panel in a smudge and abrasion-proof manner, so that trainees have them always present in their mind.

On the occasion of the opening ceremony Heinz Samolik stated: "Elabo fully meets our expectations and we are looking forward to getting new premises that match our new equipment."
