Customer-specific table combination with foldaway superstructures
Elabo has developed an interesting variation on the Inform system specially for the training area: Insular student workstations in groups of five with electromotive, retractable table superstructures.
This solution is especially practical for interdisciplinary teaching. When the table superstructures are extended, the classroom can be used for practical tutorials. The table superstructures can then be folded away for theoretical lessons, meaning that the entire table surface is now available and the technical equipment is protected against unauthorized access.
The structure is based on 5 C-foot tables from the Inform system with trapezoidal tabletops, which can be pushed together to form pentagonal groups of tables. The table superstructures, which can be extended or retracted by up to 50 cm thanks to the ELABO T 206 drive units with a total lifting capacity of 6000 N, are concealed behind the tables.
The table superstructures are equipped with DC constant-current power packs and adjustable AC power packs for practical laboratory tutorials. A separate compartment contains a folding TFT touch screen with a fold-down keyboard. Detachable experiment stands for holding A4 demonstration boards are attached to the table superstructures.
The retraction speed of the table superstructures is 1.5 cm/s. To avoid damage, the table superstructures only fold downwards if the TFT-Monitor and pullout keyboard are covered by a horizontal shutter. Whilst the superstructure is folding downwards, the power supply to the integration laboratory equipment is automatically cut. To enhance safety even more, an emergence power-cut strip has been fitted around the table's circumference: if an object becomes trapped whilst the table superstructure is folding downwards, the cut-off strip automatically reverses the direction of motion.
All table superstructures in the classroom are operated centrally from a central control unit on the teachers table.
