Traffic control centre with TaCom control technology commissioned
The new traffic control centre is where decisions are taken about traffic light sequences and traffic jam warnings, about measures to be taken during major events, state visits or even demonstrations, or indeed about establishing the so-called "green wave". The data for evaluation are supplied by a total of 750 infrared sensors or induction loops, which count the vehicles or detect traffic hold-ups and pass the information on to 22 traffic computers. Images from 100 video cameras watching tunnels or important traffic intersections can be displayed on a monitor wall containing 32 flat screen monitors. The staff in the traffic control centre have over 1,500 kilometres of road in view, on a 20 square metre multimedia wall.
The control technology is based on Elabo TaCom control desks, designed as low modules with a lowered monitor shelf. The monitor wall has also been constructed out of Elabo TaCom system profiles, and offers not only 32 ball-mounted adapters for monitor attachment but also room for the traffic control computers in the so-called Tec-Safe.
