Non-stop assembly and testing
This is the slogan used by Crailsheim-based Elabo GmbH to present the TaMas universal assembly workstation system at this year's Motek. The company will be presenting an assembly station featuring built-in functional and safety test systems that feature assembly and test cubicles equipped with integrated conveyor modules for transferring components.
The TaMas system is built up around hand assembly stations that are available in either single or multiple workstation versions and which can be effortlessly expanded in any direction thanks to the Elabo Open Space concept. The work surface above the EM-X-11 beam is infinitely adjustable from sitting to standing height and is optionally available with an electric motor. All accessories, including shelf units, swivel arms and fixtures, can be infinitely adjusted in height at the Inform-System column by means of quick-release fastening mechanisms. In designing the optimum workstation layout, the TaMas system adheres to strictly ergonomic principles. The materials receptacles and shelves with double and triple-jointed hinged brackets help you to quickly adapt the workstation layout to your individual physiological needs.
To accommodate the functional and safety tests necessary in particular in the electrical assembly segment, a special module was developed for TaMas to house safety and test equipment from the Elabo test systems product segment. This means that the customer has at his disposal a complete assembly line including functional and safety test equipment combined in a single system and all from a single source.
To mount the subassemblies, Elabo uses wheel- or castor-mounted workpiece support systems that make it possible to transfer each subassembly between individual assembly and test stations easily without having to lift them. Past experience has shown that productivity gains of up to 30 per cent can be expected after introducing this component-transportation system.
TaMo, the mobile component mounting system will also be presented for the first time at this year's Motek. Using the modular system, the flexible supply of components at the assembly workstation using receptacles that comply with European standards and prehensile pans will be demonstrated.
